More of My Favorite Authors—AAPI Heritage Month

Recognizing some of my favorite authors of AAPI descent, during AAPI Heritage Month

This AAPI Heritage Month, I’m proud to celebrate a few authors who’ve deeply influenced my thinking—especially in ways I didn’t expect. While last month I reflected on the women writers who’ve shaped my imagination, this month I want to honor the voices that have guided me on my paths to both spiritual and financial wellness. I’m talking about Robert Kiyosaki, Deepak Chopra, and Ramit Sethi—three powerful authors and thinkers whose books taught me how to approach money, purpose, and life with clarity and intention. Their insights have been more than educational; they’ve been transformative. I truly consider them mentors, and I’m grateful for the way their work has opened doors in my thinking that I didn’t even know needed opening.

I’ve also been revisiting the vivid worlds created by Amy Tan, whose storytelling continues to feel like an old friend—rich, layered, and emotionally resonant. But one new voice I’ve recently discovered is Phakyab Rinpoche, whose prose carries the same lyrical beauty and depth, with a focus on inner healing, meditation, and the sacredness of the human journey. His writing reminds me that spiritual wellness is a lifelong practice, not a destination. So this month, I’m giving flowers to the writers who’ve helped shape the woman I’m becoming. I didn’t expect these authors to make my list, but I’m so glad they did!
